Next-of-Kin Interviewer Training

A next-of-kin (NOK) interview provides an in-depth look at how someone lived, their social supports and the circumstances that lead to an overdose death. Next-of-kin interviews are tools overdose fatality review (OFR) teams can use to expand their understanding of the life experiences of a decedent and identify non-traditional touchpoints or systems that may not be represented by the OFR team members.

This training is for those individuals who will be completing NOK interviews for an OFR team. Individuals who are interested must apply to be considered for this opportunity. The training session will be a one-time, four-hour virtual course that is presented quarterly and will be free of charge to those who are selected. The training includes an overview of the NOK Interview, the process for NOK engagement and interviews, the use of the NOK interview tool, partnered practice of the NOK interview tool, and a question-and-answer session with experts who currently complete NOK interviews.

Applicants are selected based on professional experience, association with an OFR team, familiarity with the NOK process, and other knowledge. For questions, please contact info@ofrtools.org
